Belize Water Services sponsors an internship program for students interested in careers in the water industry. Participants will have an opportunity to view the many technical, professional and management jobs that are available in the water and wastewater sector. Interns will be exposed to work assignments and projects that compliment their academic training and career aspirations. BWS offers both summer and year-round internship opportunities.

Belize Water Services Limited is the water and sewerage utility for the country of Belize serving the larger municipal areas of the country.
INTERNSHIPS
Participants have an opportunity to gain experience in the following work areas:
- Administrative and Financial Management.
- Media and Public Relations
- Human Resources
- Water Treatment and Distribution
- Wastewater Treatment
- Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering
- Customer Relations and Billing
- Management Information Systems.
Year-round Internship
Year-round internship positions are designated for junior and senior year undergraduate students and graduate students majoring in engineering disciplines, computer technology, or environmental sciences. The objective of the year-round program is to provide interns with long-term exposure to complex assignments. Students get the opportunity to apply to the work environment, the theoretical and practical knowledge that has been learned in the classroom.

Selection Criteria
Students selected for the program will undergo a panel review and will also be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Application completion
- Academic record
- Essay that identifies the expectations from the program and specific interest
- Academic advisor’s recommendation
- References
- Availability of a position that reflects the applicant’s interest and major
